LOS ANGELES, CA – A Hollywood woman confronted three masked intruders attempting to break into her home, forcing them to flee in panic after she shouted threats and stood her ground.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of December 30, as Hilary Delaney, who was home at the time, heard unusual noises coming from her backyard. Upon investigating, she discovered three masked men attempting to enter her property. One of the men was using a metal object to try to break a window.
Faced with the terrifying situation, Delaney quickly shifted from fear to decisive action. “I was terrified at first, but then I felt this surge of anger,” she said, recounting the event. Standing her ground, Delaney yelled at the intruders in a commanding voice, threatening them with lethal action if they did not leave immediately.
“I screamed, ‘I’m going to shoot you! Get out of my house! I will kill you!’ over and over,” Delaney recalled. Her security cameras captured the moment the startled intruders abandoned their efforts and ran off in panic, fleeing the scene within seconds.
While relieved that her assertive approach prevented the break-in, Delaney expressed a mix of emotions in the aftermath. “I’m proud of how I defended my home and my family,” she said, “but it’s unsettling to think how close they came to succeeding.”
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene and took a report of the attempted break-in. However, Delaney noted her frustration with the lack of follow-up, saying she has yet to hear from a detective about the case. “We really hope the police will work with us to identify these individuals and ensure they don’t target another family,” she added.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about home security and rising property crimes in the area. Residents are being urged to remain vigilant and take precautions, including ensuring doors and windows are securely locked and installing security systems.
As for Delaney, the harrowing experience has left her more determined than ever to stand up for her safety and the safety of her neighborhood. “We all need to look out for each other and stay prepared,” she said.
