LOS ANGELES, CA – Firefighters rescued the driver of a work truck Thursday after the vehicle crashed into a commercial building along Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades, authorities said.
The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. near Pacific Coast Highway, Chautauqua Boulevard and Channel Road, in an area where construction work has been ongoing following the wildfire.
The truck appeared to be a flatbed-style work vehicle hauling scaffolding when it crashed into the building, according to details gathered from the scene.
Fire crews used hydraulic rescue tools, commonly known as the Jaws of Life, to cut the driver out of the cab.
The driver was trapped inside the cab portion of the truck, which had been heavily crushed against the building. Fire officials said the driver was stable during the rescue operation.
The driver was later transported to a local hospital. Authorities did not immediately release the person’s condition.
The building was reportedly vacant at the time of the crash, and no other injuries were reported.
Information reviewed by Street People indicates the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Officials have not said whether speed, mechanical issues or roadway conditions may have played a role.
Drivers were advised to expect delays in the area of Chautauqua Boulevard and Channel Road while crews worked at the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
