LOS ANGELES, CA – A Studio City family was inside their home Friday night when burglars broke in, prompting a large police response and a neighborhood search, authorities said.
The burglary was reported shortly after 8:15 p.m. in the 11200 block of Briarcliff Lane, near Laurel Canyon Boulevard.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, people were inside the residence when the break-in occurred, making the incident a hot prowl burglary.
The suspects fled before officers arrived, police said. Officers responded to the scene and took a burglary report.
Information reviewed by Street People indicates a mother and her young child were outside the home speaking with officers as investigators canvassed the area.
Police vehicles lined the street while officers searched the neighborhood for evidence and possible suspects. A helicopter also assisted in the search.
Authorities said no one was injured during the break-in.
As of Saturday morning, no arrests had been announced. Investigators had not determined what property, if any, was stolen, and no suspect description had been released.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the mother and baby came face-to-face with the burglars inside the home.
The incident comes amid continued concern over residential burglaries across parts of the San Fernando Valley and West Los Angeles. Law enforcement agencies have reported increased patrols in some neighborhoods and have urged residents to report suspicious activity.
In recent months, officials have announced arrests connected to organized burglary crews accused of targeting homes across the region.
