LOS ANGELES, CA – A man accused of making criminal threats and possibly assaulting an officer with a deadly weapon was taken into custody Tuesday night after leading police on a pursuit that stretched from the San Fernando Valley to the Westside, authorities said.
Preliminary information indicates the chase began around 9:30 p.m. in the San Fernando Valley before the driver entered the 405 Freeway and continued toward the Venice area.
The pursuit later moved onto surface streets in Century City, where the driver sideswiped two vehicles near Santa Monica Boulevard and Veteran Avenue, according to details gathered from the scene.
Authorities have not released the suspect’s identity.
Police officials confirmed the man was wanted for making criminal threats and was also possibly wanted in connection with an assault with a deadly weapon involving an officer.
The chase came to an end in Century City after the driver pulled over near Santa Monica Boulevard. Officers quickly surrounded the vehicle with guns drawn.
The suspect exited the vehicle, followed officers’ commands and lay down in the street before being taken into custody.
No injuries were immediately reported.
Information reviewed by Street People indicates the exact reason officers initiated the pursuit has not yet been fully confirmed. Authorities have also not released details about the alleged criminal threats or the possible assault involving an officer.
