LOS ANGELES, CA – Homicide detectives in Orange County are appealing to the public for information regarding a fatal shooting that occurred in January, as they believe key witnesses may still not have come forward.

The incident took place in the early hours of Jan. 24 in the 200 block of East Wakefield Avenue. Officers from the Anaheim Police Department were dispatched to the scene at approximately 3:15 a.m. after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered 49-year-old Marcy Aguilar on the porch of an apartment, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Emergency medical personnel from the Anaheim Fire Department quickly transported Aguilar to a nearby hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries.

The Anaheim Police Department has kept many details of the case confidential due to the ongoing investigation. However, officials have indicated that they strongly believe additional witnesses may have critical information that could help bring the case to a resolution.

“Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, specific details cannot be released at this time,” the department said in a statement. “However, detectives believe there are additional witnesses with critical information that could assist in solving this case.”

The shooting has left unanswered questions and a grieving community eager for justice. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the events leading to Aguilar’s death to come forward.

“We encourage those who may have seen or heard anything, no matter how small it may seem, to contact us,” a spokesperson for the Anaheim Police Department stated.

Witnesses or individuals with any relevant details are asked to contact the Anaheim Police Department at 714-321-3669. For those who wish to remain anonymous, tips can be left at the same number, ensuring confidentiality.

The police department emphasized the importance of community cooperation in solving violent crimes and reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice for Aguilar and his family. Investigators continue to work diligently to gather evidence and track down any leads, hoping to bring closure to the case as the one-year mark of the shooting approaches.
