A tragic accident on the 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles left one person dead and two injured after a tanker truck collided with multiple vehicles. The crash led to a hazardous fuel spill and forced the closure of all northbound lanes as emergency crews responded.

Collision Details

The devastating collision occurred on the 110 Freeway in the Florence area of South Los Angeles late Saturday night, involving a tanker truck and several other vehicles. This tragic accident resulted in the death of one individual and left two others with minor injuries, identified as a 45-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, as per the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The crash, reported just before 11 p.m., prompted an immediate response from emergency teams and hazmat crews. The California Highway Patrol reported that the tanker truck, carrying up to 1,000 gallons of fuel, overturned on the freeway, leading to significant fuel spillage and posing a potential hazard.

Video footage from the scene revealed the dramatic aftermath: the tanker was overturned, with at least two damaged cars nearby, and another vehicle wedged beneath the hulking truck. The driver of one of the involved vehicles was tragically killed, with authorities working diligently to retrieve the body.

Road Closures and Reopenings

All northbound lanes of the 110 Freeway were closed off from Century Boulevard to Manchester Boulevard. Crews worked tirelessly to manage the fuel spill and safely remove the large rig, ensuring no further danger to passing traffic. By noon on Sunday, after a thorough cleanup and safety inspection, all lanes were reopened to the public.

As investigations continue into the cause of the crash, the names of the victims have not yet been released. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers on the road, underscoring the importance of vigilance and safety in preventing future tragedies.
