LOS ANGELES, CA – A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy at John Marshall Park in Anaheim, authorities said.
The incident occurred Sunday evening around 8:30 p.m. at the park, located in the 2000 block of West La Palma Avenue. According to Anaheim police, the suspect, identified as Samuel Galeno, was with a group at the park when they confronted the victim. Galeno allegedly shot the boy at least once during the altercation.
The victim was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have not yet released his identity.
Following the shooting, investigators obtained a search warrant for Galeno’s residence. He was arrested the following day and has since been booked into the Anaheim Detention Center on suspicion of murder. He is being held on $1 million bail.
Police have not disclosed a motive for the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Anaheim police detectives. The community continues to grapple with the tragedy as questions about the circumstances surrounding the confrontation remain unanswered.
