LOS ANGELES, CA – Homicide detectives in Orange County are appealing to the public for information regarding a fatal shooting that occurred in January, as they believe key witnesses may still not have come forward.
The incident took place in the early hours of Jan. 24 in the 200 block of East Wakefield Avenue. Officers from the Anaheim Police Department were dispatched to the scene at approximately 3:15 a.m. after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered 49-year-old Marcy Aguilar on the porch of an apartment, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel from the Anaheim Fire Department quickly transported Aguilar to a nearby hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries.
The Anaheim Police Department has kept many details of the case confidential due to the ongoing investigation. However, officials have indicated that they strongly believe additional witnesses may have critical information that could help bring the case to a resolution.
“Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, specific details cannot be released at this time,” the department said in a statement. “However, detectives believe there are additional witnesses with critical information that could assist in solving this case.”
The shooting has left unanswered questions and a grieving community eager for justice. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the events leading to Aguilar’s death to come forward.
