Deputies respond to Fountain Avenue business
Deputies from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station responded Thursday to a call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon at a business on Fountain Avenue.
At the scene, deputies determined that a store employee had been injured. The station did not identify the business or the employee.
The station did not describe the weapon, the circumstances of the attack or the extent of the employee’s injuries.
License plate reader technology helps identify vehicle
Deputies used ALPR technology to help identify a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle, according to the station.
The City of West Hollywood describes its license plate readers as part of its public safety technology program on its Safer WeHo page. Under the program’s description, only the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station has access to ALPR data, which is managed under LASD policies and California law.
Driver detained during follow-up investigation
Deputies later conducted follow-up investigation in the area. While they were there, they encountered the vehicle that had been identified with the help of the technology.
The driver matched the description of the suspect, and deputies detained him. He was then arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
The station thanked the deputies involved for their teamwork and quick response in making the arrest.
What an arrest on suspicion means
An arrest on suspicion of a crime is an early step in the criminal process. It is not a conviction, and the allegations remain subject to the criminal court process.
The suspect is presumed innocent unless and until a court finds otherwise. Prosecutors decide whether to file charges after reviewing a case.
West Hollywood crime data is published online
The City of West Hollywood publishes year-to-date crime data for the city on its open-data portal. The data is provided by LASD and lists each incident’s date, crime category and address, along with whether it falls under the Part I or Part II category.
The portal listing showed the dataset was last updated Oct. 16, 2026. The city refreshes the data monthly.
