LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17 – The Los Angeles Police Department has arrested 37-year-old Kenneth Alan Woolfolk, a homeless man accused of multiple rapes in the downtown area. Authorities believe the arrest may uncover additional victims as investigations continue into a series of sexual assaults that have shaken the community.
The arrest follows reports from two women who came forward in October with allegations of being raped by Woolfolk within days of each other. The first incident was reported on October 3, when a woman alleged she was attacked in a tent near 1st and Judge John Aiso streets. On October 9, another woman detailed a similar assault.
Detectives subsequently linked Woolfolk to three additional sexual assault cases through ongoing investigations, identifying him as the primary suspect.
“Based on evidence collected in this case, detectives believe this individual may have targeted vulnerable individuals experiencing homelessness and could be responsible for other sexual assaults,” the LAPD stated.
Authorities are urging any potential victims or witnesses to come forward with information, emphasizing that all reports will be handled with sensitivity and confidentiality.
This case highlights the disproportionate risks faced by the homeless population, many of whom are reluctant to report crimes due to fear or distrust of law enforcement. Advocacy groups and local officials have echoed the call for support, urging anyone with knowledge of similar incidents to aid in the investigation.
As Woolfolk remains in custody, the LAPD has reassured the public that their efforts to protect vulnerable individuals and bring perpetrators to justice will continue.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are seeking further evidence to determine the full scope of Woolfolk’s alleged crimes. Individuals with information are encouraged to contact LAPD detectives directly or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
Woolfolk’s arrest is seen as a critical step in addressing sexual violence within marginalized communities and ensuring accountability for those who exploit the most vulnerable.
