LOS ANGELES, CA – Los Angeles police are searching for a homeless man accused of stabbing a 14-year-old boy in an unprovoked attack Monday evening in Northridge.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. near Balboa Boulevard and Superior Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the teenager was walking in the area when he was approached by a man believed to be homeless.
Police say the suspect asked the teen for money, and when the boy did not comply, the man attacked him with a piece of glass. The victim was reportedly cut two to three times before the suspect fled the scene.
The teenager sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover. Emergency responders treated him at the scene before he was transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation, authorities said.
The suspect is described as a man in his 50s, last seen wearing a puffer jacket. He fled on foot, and officers are actively canvassing the area to locate him.
