BEVERLY HILLS, CA – A birthday dinner for actor Jamie Foxx took a chaotic turn Friday evening at the upscale Beverly Hills restaurant Mr. Chow, when a prank involving a phallic-shaped laser pointer escalated into a physical altercation. Authorities are now investigating the incident, which left Foxx with a facial injury.
Dinner Interrupted by Laser Pointer Prank
The altercation reportedly began when Foxx, dining with family and friends in celebration of his birthday, noticed a laser projection of a penis aimed at his table. Sources close to the actor said Foxx was particularly upset because his children were present and found the prank inappropriate and offensive.
The laser was allegedly being operated by attendees of a private holiday party in the restaurant’s upstairs VIP section, hosted by Dickhouse Productions, the company behind the Jackass franchise. Though none of the Jackass stars were present, the event was attended by crew members associated with the production company.
Tensions Escalate
After noticing the laser projection, Foxx reportedly went upstairs to confront the group, accompanied by some of his dinner guests. He expressed his displeasure, saying, “In front of my daughters?” According to witnesses, the confrontation became heated, with members of the private party allegedly laughing at Foxx’s objections.
The situation worsened when one member of the VIP group reportedly threw a drinking glass, hitting Foxx in the face and causing a cut to his mouth. Witnesses said Foxx, bleeding from the injury, exclaimed, “It’s my birthday, what is wrong with you?” before leaving the restaurant to seek medical attention.
Statements from Both Sides
Attorney Bryan Freedman, representing Dickhouse Productions, said, “Although the crew has the greatest respect for Jamie, the version of events that has been presented is totally inaccurate and deeply unfair to those attending their holiday celebration that night.”
However, Foxx’s dinner guests insist the prank and subsequent aggression from the private party disrupted what was intended to be a significant celebration of Foxx’s recovery following a recent health scare.
Police Investigation Underway
The Beverly Hills Police Department confirmed that officers were called to Mr. Chow during the incident. Although Foxx had left the scene, he has since spoken with investigators. Police are currently examining the involvement of attendees from the private party and have not yet made any arrests.
A statement released by the Beverly Hills Police Department acknowledged the incident, stating, “An investigation is ongoing regarding a reported altercation at a restaurant on North Camden Drive. No arrests have been made at this time.”
A Memorable Evening for the Wrong Reasons
Foxx’s birthday dinner was meant to mark his second chance at life following a major health episode earlier this year. With approximately 50 guests in attendance, including family and close friends, the event was reportedly planned as a sober and reflective celebration.
The incident has drawn attention to the rising number of high-profile disputes in public settings and raises questions about personal boundaries and decorum in such situations. For now, authorities continue to investigate as both parties stand by differing accounts of the events that unfolded that night.
