LOS ANGELES, CA – A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy at John Marshall Park in Anaheim, authorities said.
The incident occurred Sunday evening around 8:30 p.m. at the park, located in the 2000 block of West La Palma Avenue. According to Anaheim police, the suspect, identified as Samuel Galeno, was with a group at the park when they confronted the victim. Galeno allegedly shot the boy at least once during the altercation.
The victim was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have not yet released his identity.
Following the shooting, investigators obtained a search warrant for Galeno’s residence. He was arrested the following day and has since been booked into the Anaheim Detention Center on suspicion of murder. He is being held on $1 million bail.
Police have not disclosed a motive for the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
