LOS ANGELES, CA – Authorities are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found at a bus stop in the Mid-Wilshire neighborhood of Los Angeles on Thursday, police said.
Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to reports of an unresponsive woman at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Olympic Boulevard in the early afternoon.
Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene and confirmed the woman was deceased. Investigators said the body may have been at the location for approximately 10 to 12 hours before it was discovered.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of death but stated there were no immediate signs of foul play. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office is conducting an autopsy to establish the cause and manner of death.
A canopy was erected over the bus stop, and police taped off the area as investigators examined the scene.
The identity of the woman has not been released, pending notification of her next of kin. Officials said her age and background would be disclosed following the coroner’s investigation.
Police confirmed they are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and traffic cameras to determine the events leading up to the discovery.
Detectives have also asked the public to report any activity observed in the area during the night or early morning hours.
