LOS ANGELES, CA – Detectives in Los Angeles are investigating the fatal shooting of two teenagers in the Mount Washington neighborhood earlier this month, a tragedy that has left the community shaken.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Northeast Area responded to a report of “unknown trouble” in the 1400 block of Cliff Drive at approximately 12:10 a.m. on Nov. 7. Upon arrival, officers discovered two unconscious teenage boys with apparent gunshot wounds, according to the LAPD.
Paramedics were called to the scene, but despite their efforts, both victims were pronounced dead. Authorities identified the first victim as 18-year-old Denzel Guzman. The second victim, a 17-year-old male, has not been publicly named due to his age.
Details about the incident remain sparse. Police have not disclosed whether any witnesses were present or heard the gunfire. As of now, no suspect information has been released, and no arrests have been made.
Authorities have not shared any possible motives for the shooting or indicated whether the victims were targeted or if this was a random act of violence.
The Mount Washington neighborhood, known for its quiet residential streets and family-oriented atmosphere, has been rocked by the double homicide. Local residents expressed concerns about safety and called for justice for the young victims.
“This is devastating,” said a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous. “Our hearts go out to the families of these boys. This kind of violence doesn’t belong here—or anywhere.”
Police are canvassing the area for additional evidence, including surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses, to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
The double homicide adds to the growing concern over gun violence involving young people in Los Angeles. Advocacy groups have called for increased community support and intervention programs to prevent such tragedies.
As the investigation continues, law enforcement is relying on the public to help bring closure to the families of Guzman and the 17-year-old victim.
“Every piece of information helps,” said an LAPD spokesperson. “We urge anyone who might have seen or heard something that night to come forward. These boys deserve justice.”
The LAPD is urging anyone with information about the double homicide to come forward. Detectives Cardenas and De La Riva of the Central Bureau Homicide unit are leading the investigation and can be reached at 213-996-4163 or via email at [email protected].
