LOS ANGELES, CA – Two people were hospitalized on Monday following a stabbing incident at Verdugo Hills High School in Tujunga, prompting a heavy police and emergency response.
The stabbing occurred around 2 p.m. on the school’s campus, located in the 10600 block of Plainview Avenue. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, one victim sustained serious injuries, while the other suffered less severe injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities or ages of the victims, nor their connection to the school, though officials confirmed the investigation is being led by the Los Angeles School Police Department.
Footage shared on social media showed multiple ambulances and police vehicles stationed outside the high school, with concerned parents gathering nearby.
The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Superintendent Alberto Carvalho issued a statement in response to the incident, emphasizing the district’s commitment to safety and support for students and families affected by the violence.
“We will not tolerate violent incidents regardless of who perpetrates them,” Carvalho said. “We are wishing a swift recovery for our students at Verdugo Hills High School while we fully investigate what happened and how it took place.”
Carvalho also assured parents that the district is cooperating fully with law enforcement and will provide mental health resources for those impacted.
