LOS ANGELES, CA – Three people sustained major injuries and were transported to a Los Angeles County hospital Friday morning following a fiery crash involving multiple vehicles on the Angeles Forest Highway, authorities said.
The collision occurred shortly before 11 a.m. and involved at least two vehicles, including a Maserati sports car, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Emergency crews arrived to find the Maserati engulfed in flames on the side of the road. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire by 11:15 a.m. and were able to rescue and stabilize the injured individuals.
Officials confirmed that three people were taken from the scene, including one person listed in critical condition.
Footage from the crash site showed the charred Maserati resting against a hillside, while a second vehicle, identified as a Toyota van, sustained major damage and was later removed by a tow truck. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicated the van was driven by an innocent bystander traveling in the opposite direction of the Maserati at the time of the crash.
A third vehicle, appearing to be a Porsche, was observed parked near the crash site, though it did not show visible damage.
Investigators are probing whether the Maserati and the Porsche may have been engaged in street racing prior to the collision.
The roadway was closed to traffic for over an hour while authorities cleared debris and investigated the incident. By 12:20 p.m., all lanes were reopened, the CHP incident log reported.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash and have urged witnesses or anyone with additional information to contact the California Highway Patrol at 323-259-3200.
Officials stressed that the investigation remains ongoing, and updates are expected as further details emerge.
