Good Samaritan Foils Suspected Kidnapper
In a harrowing incident on Oct. 21, an 11-year-old girl narrowly escaped a kidnapping attempt in Los Angeles, thanks to a vigilant neighbor who intervened. The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene near M Street and Gulf Avenue in Wilmington, where the suspect had approached the girl from behind and assaulted her.
Quick-Thinking Neighbor Intervenes
A local resident, Ivonne, witnessed the incident and immediately stepped in. “Hey, leave her alone,” Ivonne was heard shouting, as captured in video footage. Despite the suspect’s claim that the young girl was his niece, Ivonne was undeterred and knew the man was lying. She and her brother tried to detain the man, but he managed to flee the scene in a gray Nissan Kicks.
Suspect Arrested on Charges of Aggravated Kidnapping
Police later identified the suspect as Jose Jaime, a resident of Hawthorne. Jaime was arrested at his home on Wednesday and faces charges of aggravated kidnapping. His bail is set at $1 million. Ivonne expressed relief, stating she was glad to have been nearby when the incident occurred, allowing her to act in time.
