LOS ANGELES, CA – Three suspects were taken into custody Friday morning following a high-speed pursuit that began in Los Angeles and ended in North Hollywood, authorities said.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the chase began at approximately 8:47 a.m. after officers attempted to stop a grey sedan wanted in connection with an alleged carjacking.
Police said at least three individuals were inside the vehicle when the pursuit started. The suspects led officers through multiple neighborhoods, at times reaching speeds of 80 miles per hour and driving dangerously on city streets.
Footage captured during the incident showed the driver weaving through traffic, ignoring red lights, and occasionally driving on the wrong side of the road, narrowly avoiding collisions.
The chase initially moved along the 170 Freeway before the suspect exited at Magnolia Boulevard and proceeded to drive primarily along Lankershim Boulevard in North Hollywood.
At around 9:15 a.m., the driver pulled into what appeared to be the parking lot of an apartment complex. Moments later, the driver, along with a male and female passenger, exited the vehicle and attempted to flee in separate directions as officers closed in on the area.
The driver, wearing a grey hoodie, ran across Lankershim Boulevard before being cornered inside an automotive shop nearby. Officers quickly apprehended him without further incident.
The female suspect was also seen being detained shortly afterward, while the third suspect was taken into custody a few minutes later.
The LAPD confirmed that all three suspects were arrested. While authorities initially reported that the suspects were armed, no weapons were recovered at the scene, police said.
Investigators are continuing to look into the incident and working to determine whether additional charges may be filed.
