LOS ANGELES, CA – A police chase ended with a dramatic crash in Culver City late Saturday night when a suspect driving a Dodge Durango slammed into a guardrail and a home.
The incident began around 9:41 p.m. on the southbound 405 Freeway near La Tijera Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Officers initiated the chase after attempting to pull the driver over for driving on the freeway shoulder.
The pursuit continued until the suspect exited the 405 at Culver Boulevard, where the Durango struck a guardrail before crashing into a house on Sawtelle Boulevard. The home sustained significant damage to its living room, but no occupants were injured, authorities said.
The suspect was taken into custody at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle recounted the terrifying moments of the crash.
“I thought I was going to die, I’m not going to lie, because it was like, ‘Boom! Boom! Boom!'” the passenger told reporters.
Neither the suspect nor the passenger sustained serious injuries, according to CHP. A handgun was recovered near the vehicle, and the incident remains under investigation.
The off-ramp at Culver Boulevard was closed for several hours Sunday morning as crews from Caltrans repaired the damaged guardrail.
Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the suspect, and no additional details were immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
