LOS ANGELES, CA – A 17-year-old has been charged with a staggering 22 felony counts involving child pornography, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s office.
The charges include possession and control of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), as well as distribution and possession with intent to distribute CSAM to adults. Additionally, the teen faces multiple counts of using a minor for sexual acts.
The investigation into the teenager’s activities began in August after law enforcement received several Cybertip reports from various electronic service providers and social media platforms. These reports highlighted the dissemination of material depicting the exploitation and sexual assault of children as young as infants.
On December 10, following the investigation, FBI agents and supporting agencies executed a search warrant at the teen’s residence, leading to their arrest.
The initial court appearance took place on December 12, and the juvenile is currently being held at the Juvenile Facilities in Oxnard.
The charges against the minor include six counts of distribution and possession with intent to distribute child pornography and 15 counts of using a minor for sex acts.
In addition to these serious allegations, two special allegations were added: aggravated possession of child pornography involving more than 600 images and possession of sadomasochistic images.
As the judicial process begins, the case is set for a pretrial conference on December 31, with a contest scheduled for January 3. Authorities continue to stress the importance of vigilance in identifying and reporting suspected child exploitation, emphasizing the need for community awareness in combating these grave offenses.
