Authorities in Southern California have dismantled an organized retail crime ring, recovering over $143,000 worth of stolen merchandise. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) led the operation, which resulted in the arrest of four suspects linked to multiple thefts across the region.
Suspects Identified in Retail Crime Ring
The suspects, Victor Manuel Marcos Marino, 33, Maria Isabel Orozco Cadena, 31, Elena Huezo, 43, and Jose Aurelio Diaz Magana, 36, are accused of conducting at least 10 thefts between August 24 and September 27. Authorities allege that the group targeted retail stores across Orange and Los Angeles counties, escaping with approximately $10,000 in stolen merchandise during that period.
Stolen Goods Discovered in Multiple Locations
On October 14, 2024, CHP investigators executed search warrants at residences in Anaheim and Bloomington. At these locations, they uncovered around $143,746 worth of stolen goods, primarily stored in large suitcases and black bags. Photos released by the CHP showed the extent of the recovered merchandise, which had been carefully organized in the homes.
Efforts to Combat Organized Retail Theft
The arrests are part of ongoing efforts by the CHP’s Organized Retail Theft teams, which operate in Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. These specialized units collaborate with local retailers to address sophisticated criminal operations that target businesses statewide.
The four suspects were booked into the Orange County Jail, and the case has been referred to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for further legal action. Authorities emphasized the significance of such operations in curbing organized retail crime and protecting merchants from ongoing losses.
