BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Los Angeles police are investigating an attempted burglary at a multi-million-dollar mansion in Beverly Glen, a neighborhood near Beverly Hills, after a private security guard reportedly fired shots at suspected intruders Friday evening.
Authorities responded to reports of gunfire around 7 p.m. at the property located on Summitridge Drive. According to preliminary information, the security guard opened fire after spotting at least two individuals attempting to break into the estate.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department searched the grounds of the property, using flashlights to scan the large estate for suspects. As of Friday night, no arrests had been made, and it was unclear whether the suspects were armed or injured during the incident.
The mansion, known for its celebrity history, was previously owned by John Fogerty, lead singer and songwriter for Creedence Clearwater Revival. The home was sold in 2014 for more than $18 million, according to property records.
Authorities have not disclosed whether the current occupants were home at the time of the incident. No injuries have been reported so far, and the LAPD has not released information on any damage to the property.
Investigators are working to determine whether the attempted burglary was targeted or random. They are also reviewing surveillance footage from the property and surrounding area to identify the suspects.
