LOS ANGELES, CA – A 23-year-old man has been charged with three counts of murder in connection with the fatal stabbings of three family members, including an 8-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy, and a 44-year-old woman, inside a Baldwin Park home, prosecutors announced on Tuesday.
The suspect, identified as Kyle Chester De Los Reyes, is also facing special allegations for the use of a deadly weapon and committing multiple murders during the December 26 attack, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The incident unfolded in the 4700 block of Bogart Avenue, where officers responded to reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, they discovered De Los Reyes sitting inside a vehicle parked in the driveway of the residence, officials said.
When officers attempted to detain him, the suspect allegedly tried to flee but crashed at the end of the cul-de-sac, where he was taken into custody without further incident.
Inside the home, officers found the three victims suffering from multiple stab wounds. All three were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Officials have not released details regarding the specific relationships between De Los Reyes and the victims but confirmed that he is a family member.
Investigators have not yet identified a motive for the stabbings, and authorities are continuing to review evidence and interview witnesses.
Neighbors reported hearing screams and a man yelling during the incident, though no additional injuries were reported. Several other children were confirmed to have lived at the home, authorities added.
In a statement, District Attorney Nathan Hochman expressed condolences to the victims’ family and promised to seek justice for the gruesome killings.
“My office will work tirelessly to ensure that justice is served in this devastating act of violence, which has shaken our community and left a family forever changed,” Hochman said.
De Los Reyes is currently being held without bail and is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Los Angeles County Superior Court on January 15, officials confirmed.
