Firefighters Called to Unusual Rescue Mission
BUENA PARK, Calif. — A unique rescue mission unfolded Wednesday night as Orange County firefighters were dispatched to save both a man and a six-month-old cockatiel from a large tree in Buena Park. The man had climbed the tree in an attempt to rescue the parrot, which had flown up after being startled.
Parrot Owner’s Brother Attempts Daring Rescue
The bird’s owner, who often takes her pet cockatiel for walks, reported that the bird usually perches calmly on her shoulder. However, when she dropped an item, the cockatiel bolted upwards, landing high in the branches. Her well-intentioned brother then climbed up to retrieve the pet, only to find himself stuck as well.
Successful Rescue by Firefighters
Firefighters carefully brought the man to safety before locating and securing the parrot. The bird was safely returned to its cage, and the man was unhurt, thanks to the firefighters’ quick response.
This incident serves as a reminder of the challenges firefighters face beyond typical emergency calls, bringing both the bird and its rescuer back to safety.
