LOS ANGELES, CA – Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that left one woman dead and another man injured in Huntington Park late Monday night.
The incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. on December 16 in the 3900 block of 60th Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Responding officers found a woman inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not released her identity, pending notification of next of kin.
Shortly after discovering the woman, officers were alerted to a second gunshot victim located approximately a mile away in the 4000 block of Slauson Avenue in the neighboring city of Maywood. Investigators identified the second victim as a man who had been with the woman when the shooting took place.
The man reportedly fled the scene immediately following the incident. His condition has not been disclosed, and authorities have not provided further details regarding the extent of his injuries.
Detectives have yet to confirm whether a suspect is being sought or if the shooting stemmed from a dispute or targeted attack. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the area and interviewing potential witnesses to piece together the sequence of events leading up to the shooting.
