LOS ANGELES, CA – Authorities are searching for a suspect who led police on a Christmas Day pursuit across parts of Los Angeles County before abandoning a vehicle and fleeing on foot in Inglewood, officials said.
The incident began when officers with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) attempted to stop a white SUV in connection with a suspected theft, burglary, or robbery. The driver refused to pull over, sparking a chase through residential neighborhoods and busy streets.
The pursuit ended near a cemetery in Inglewood, where the suspect ditched the vehicle and ran into the cemetery grounds. Witnesses reported seeing the man sprinting through gravestones before disappearing into a nearby residential area.
LAPD officers, aided by helicopters and K-9 units, combed the area in search of the suspect. As of 4 p.m., authorities had not confirmed whether the man had been located or taken into custody.
Officials have not disclosed the specific circumstances leading to the chase, and it remains unclear whether the suspect was wanted in connection with additional crimes beyond the initial theft-burglary-robbery investigation.
The pursuit and subsequent foot chase occurred during the busy holiday afternoon, causing temporary road closures in parts of Inglewood as law enforcement officers established a perimeter.
No injuries were reported, and police recovered the abandoned SUV as part of their investigation.
Authorities have asked the public to report any sightings or information about the suspect’s whereabouts to the LAPD’s South Bureau Detectives at (323) 786-5100. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or lacrimestoppers.org.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials are expected to release further details as they continue their search for the suspect.
