LOS ANGELES, CA – Authorities have launched a homicide investigation after a man was discovered shot to death early Wednesday morning near the 710 Freeway in the city of Paramount, officials said.
Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 1:50 a.m. in the area of Rosecrans Avenue and the 710 Freeway. Upon arrival, authorities located the victim, who was suffering from at least one gunshot wound, the department confirmed in a statement.
Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived at the scene shortly after deputies and pronounced the victim dead. The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Officials said the victim was a male, but no additional information about his age or background was made available.
Investigators have not identified any suspects, and there was no description of a vehicle or individuals connected to the shooting as of Wednesday morning. Authorities have also not determined a motive for the incident and are still working to piece together the circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting.
The location where the body was found, near a busy freeway interchange, raises questions about whether the crime occurred at that spot or if the victim was moved there after being shot, investigators said.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau have taken over the case and are conducting interviews and reviewing any available surveillance footage from nearby businesses and traffic cameras.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department urged anyone with information about the case to contact its Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. For those wishing to provide tips anonymously, calls can be made to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or submitted online at lacrimestoppers.org.
The investigation remains ongoing, and further details are expected to be released as detectives continue to gather evidence. Authorities said they are working to determine whether the shooting was targeted or random and whether it may be linked to any previous incidents in the area.
