A man was shot and killed while riding an electric bicycle in Los Angeles’ Mid-Wilshire neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The shooting occurred in broad daylight, shocking residents in the typically quiet area.
Suspect Surrenders as Police Seek Motive
LAPD officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 900 block of South Victoria Avenue around 2:30 PM. Upon arrival, they found a male victim who had been shot while riding an e-bike. The man, whose identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial reports suggested the suspect fled on foot after the shooting. However, later Tuesday evening, a man matching the description of the shooter turned himself in to police in nearby Koreatown. The individual has been detained as a “person of interest” in connection with the Mid-Wilshire incident.
Investigators are still working to determine a motive for the shooting. It remains unclear if the victim and suspect knew each other or if the incident was related to road rage. Police have noted that the victim may not have been a resident of the neighborhood.
This brazen daylight shooting has raised concerns about public safety in the area. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local authorities as the investigation continues.
