LOS ANGELES, CA – Authorities are searching for a suspect who shot and killed a man during an argument in Panorama City on Christmas Day, police said.
The shooting occurred around 8:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 8700 block of Cedros Avenue, near the intersection of Parthenia Street and Van Nuys Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
Investigators said the incident began as a verbal dispute between two men. During the confrontation, one of them reportedly pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots.
Police responding to the scene spoke with several witnesses who reported hearing 15 to 20 gunshots before seeing a possible suspect flee the area in a vehicle.
The victim, who lived near the scene, was found by first responders lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
The suspect remains at large, and police said a description was not immediately available.
Officials are also investigating whether the shooting may have been gang-related, although no direct evidence has been established at this time.
Detectives are continuing their investigation and are seeking any additional surveillance footage from nearby businesses or residences that may assist in identifying the suspect or the vehicle seen leaving the area.
