LOS ANGELES, CA – A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing at a McDonald’s parking lot in Santa Ana on Sunday afternoon, authorities confirmed.
Officers from the Santa Ana Police Department and the Orange County Fire Authority responded to reports of a stabbing at approximately 3:04 p.m. at the McDonald’s located at 3810 S. Bristol Street. Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered a 43-year-old man suffering from stab wounds to his upper torso. The victim, identified as Noah William Ewing by the Orange County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Department, was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
During the investigation, police uncovered that a separate assault had taken place in the same shopping center shortly before the stabbing. A woman reported being punched multiple times in what authorities described as an unprovoked attack by an unidentified male suspect. Officers quickly detained the suspect near the scene of the assault.
Further inquiries revealed that the same individual responsible for the earlier assault had approached and fatally stabbed Ewing. Police stated that there was no known connection between the two victims.
The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Justin Anthony Carlin of Santa Ana, was arrested at the scene. He has been booked into the Santa Ana Jail on charges of murder, in addition to charges related to the assault on the female victim.
Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation and are seeking additional witnesses who may have information about the incident.
