Details of the Crime
Anthony Flores, also known as “BabyGfar,” was convicted of robbing multiple BevMo! stores across Southern California over a 10-day period in May and June 2023. According to the Department of Justice, Flores and his accomplices threatened employees and stole expensive liquor bottles stored behind security glass. The stolen merchandise was then resold through Instagram.
The robbery spree came to an end on June 5th when Flores and co-defendant Ivin Kitu Sanford attempted to rob a BevMo! in Canyon Country. After fleeing in a stolen vehicle, the pair led police on a high-speed chase that ended with them crashing into a tree. In a desperate escape attempt, Flores and Sanford then fled on foot across six lanes of the busy 14 Freeway before being apprehended hiding in nearby bushes.
Sentencing and Legal Repercussions
U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada emphasized the seriousness of the crimes, stating: “This defendant’s careless disregard for the law put lives at risk.” Flores was sentenced to 110 months in prison and ordered to pay $10,439 in restitution. His co-defendant Sanford faces up to 20 years when sentenced in January.
