LOS ANGELES, Nov. 16 – A Metro bus driver is in critical condition after being shot by her ex-boyfriend near a bus stop at Hollywood Boulevard and Vermont Avenue early Saturday morning, authorities said.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 7:24 a.m. and found the victim, a woman in her 30s, suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition. Her identity has not been released.
Police have identified the suspected shooter as 45-year-old Dorian Holt, who fled the scene following the attack. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, dark pants, and a black hat with a white “LA” logo.
Authorities are treating the incident as a domestic violence case and have launched a citywide search for Holt. A tip line has been established, and officials are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.
“This is a tragic case of domestic violence that has left one of our Metro employees fighting for her life,” Metro said in a statement. “We are working closely with law enforcement and focusing on providing support to our colleague during this difficult time.”
The attack has left the local community shaken. Residents in the area expressed alarm over the brazen nature of the shooting at a public transit hub. “It’s frightening that something so violent can happen in a place so many of us pass by daily,” said Maria Rodriguez, a student who lives nearby.
Domestic violence advocates have raised concerns over the rising number of such incidents in Los Angeles, calling for increased resources and intervention measures to protect victims before situations escalate.
Metro has announced plans to increase security at bus stops citywide in response to the attack, aiming to reassure employees and commuters of their safety.
As of Saturday afternoon, Holt remains at large. Police are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings of the suspect. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected as authorities continue their efforts to apprehend the suspect.
