LOS ANGELES, CA – Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped from a community reentry program facility in Los Angeles over the weekend, triggering a regionwide effort to locate and return him to custody.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) identified the individual as 45-year-old Herber Ramosrauda, who was serving a three-year sentence for second-degree robbery. He had been transferred to the Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) facility in Los Angeles to complete the final portion of his sentence under supervised transitional care.
Street People learned that Ramosrauda was reported missing shortly before 3 p.m. on Sunday. According to information reviewed by SP, he was last seen in the vicinity of Wilshire Boulevard and South Bonnie Brae Street in the Westlake neighborhood, near downtown Los Angeles. Initial indications suggest he left the facility on foot.
SP obtained further details indicating that Ramosrauda had been placed in the MCRP on May 13, 2024, after being moved from a traditional correctional institution. The MCRP provides structured reentry services—including education, job readiness, and behavioral support—for inmates nearing the end of their sentence. Participants are permitted to live in designated community facilities under strict supervision.
At the time of his disappearance, Ramosrauda was described as approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds, with a light complexion, black hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray sweater and pants, and carrying a gray-and-red backpack.
According to insights uncovered by SP, no public details have been released regarding the exact circumstances of his departure, nor whether any procedural lapses may have occurred. Investigators are now working to determine how Ramosrauda exited the facility without detection.
The CDCR, in coordination with local law enforcement agencies, continues to track his whereabouts. Officials have not commented on whether Ramosrauda has a history of escape attempts or any known ties in the immediate area that could aid in evasion.
Members of the public are advised not to approach Ramosrauda if spotted. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or contact Special Agent Andrew Meyers with the CDCR’s Office of Correctional Safety at 661-440-8477.
