LOS ANGELES, CA – A man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend, a Metro bus driver, multiple times while she was on duty in East Hollywood has been arrested, police announced Friday.
Dorian Holt, 45, was taken into custody in Escondido on December 12 after weeks on the run. He faces charges of attempted murder for the November 16 attack, which left the 56-year-old victim in critical condition.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the shooting occurred around 7:24 a.m. on the 1600 block of North Vermont Avenue. The victim was taking a break, having parked near the bus stop at Hollywood Boulevard and Vermont Avenue, when Holt allegedly approached her and shot her multiple times at close range.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds to her face, hands, and buttocks. Paramedics rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she underwent surgery. Her condition was later stabilized.
Police identified Holt as the primary suspect two days after the attack. Authorities said he fled the scene immediately after the shooting and evaded capture by leaving the state.
Detectives tracked Holt’s movements for weeks before his arrest upon his return to Southern California.
Details about the couple’s relationship remain unclear, including how long they were together and whether any prior domestic violence incidents were reported. A relative of the victim said the relationship ended when the woman felt her safety was at risk.
“I think for her, things got to a point where they had been escalating, and it was at a point where she felt like she didn’t need to be in that situation,” her nephew said, adding that there was a history of violence.
The woman’s identity has not been released, and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
