LOS ANGELES, CA – Authorities are investigating a burglary at a cafe along the Hollywood Walk of Fame after a barefoot individual was found rummaging through items near the scene late Wednesday night, officials said.
The incident occurred at the Northern Cafe, located near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. Police responded to reports of a break-in at approximately 10:45 p.m., where they discovered evidence of a forced entry and property damage, authorities said.
Video footage captured at the scene showed the cafe’s front door shattered, with broken glass scattered across the sidewalk, just steps away from the star-lined boulevard. Items believed to have been taken from the cafe, including a bottle of Sriracha chili sauce and an exit sign, were spotted in a pile near the entrance.
Police also received additional reports of a woman sitting outside the business, prompting officers to investigate whether she was connected to the incident.
The barefoot individual, who was observed crawling through broken glass near the entrance, was later seen sitting next to the scattered items. However, it remained unclear whether the person had any involvement in the burglary or was simply present at the scene after the break-in occurred.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident or if the person found outside the cafe will face charges.
Police said the investigation is still in its early stages, and detectives are working to gather evidence, including surveillance footage, to determine the sequence of events leading up to the break-in.
The Northern Cafe did not immediately provide a statement regarding the incident or an estimate of the damage caused during the burglary.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the break-in to contact the Los Angeles Police Department at 213-972-2971. Those wishing to provide anonymous tips can reach Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or submit information online at lacrimestoppers.org.
Further updates are expected as the investigation continues, and police work to determine whether the barefoot individual found at the scene was connected to the crime or simply an onlooker.
