LOS ANGELES, CA – The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) has issued a plea for public assistance in locating a missing 14-year-old girl, considered at-risk due to a mental health condition.
Gionna Marie Landos was last seen around 1 a.m. on Thursday in the 900 block of South Simmons Avenue, near East Olympic Boulevard and close to the city limits of Commerce, authorities said.
Gionna is described as a Latina, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing approximately 170 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a black sweater, pants, and sandals.
Her disappearance has raised concerns given her young age and the reported mental health condition that places her at risk.
The LASD is urging community members to remain vigilant and report any sightings or information regarding Gionna’s whereabouts. “It’s crucial that we act swiftly in situations like this to ensure the safety of at-risk individuals,” a spokesperson for the department said.
Residents in the area have been asked to check their security cameras or any footage that may provide clues about her movements. Authorities are also working with local organizations and agencies to expand the search efforts.
Anyone with information about Gionna’s whereabouts is urged to contact Detective P. Franco or the on-duty watch commander at the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station by calling (323) 264-4151. Alternatively, tips can be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477 or online at lacrimestoppers.org.
Law enforcement officials stressed the importance of community involvement in locating missing persons, especially those considered at-risk. “Every moment counts,” the department emphasized.
The LASD has not disclosed further details about the circumstances of Gionna’s disappearance but continues to treat the case with urgency. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
