LOS ANGELES, CA – One person was injured in a possible road rage shooting on the southbound 710 Freeway early Wednesday morning, authorities said.
The California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a shooting near the junction with the 5 Freeway around 12:12 a.m.
Incident Details
Preliminary investigations revealed that a dark-colored sedan pulled up alongside a silver Toyota Prius traveling southbound and fired multiple shots into the vehicle, CHP officials said.
The Prius was carrying three occupants at the time of the incident. One passenger sustained a gunshot wound, while the driver was able to navigate to a nearby hospital. The extent of the injured passenger’s condition has not been disclosed.
Authorities have not released a detailed description of the suspect’s vehicle or any information about the shooter.
Following the shooting, all lanes of the southbound 710 Freeway at Third Street were closed for more than four hours as investigators combed the scene for evidence. Traffic was diverted to alternate routes, causing delays in the early morning hours.

Law enforcement is working to determine whether the shooting was indeed motivated by road rage or if other circumstances contributed to the attack.
