LOS ANGELES, CA – A woman was killed and three others injured in a multi-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon after police pursued a suspected stolen vehicle in Winnetka, authorities said.
The collision occurred around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Saticoy Street and Mason Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Los Angeles Police Department officers initiated the pursuit after noticing that the license plate on the suspect’s vehicle did not match the description of the registered vehicle, LAPD Officer Tony Im said.
The suspect vehicle, traveling southbound on Mason Avenue, struck a westbound vehicle on Saticoy Street, which then collided with two additional vehicles, Im said.
A woman in the first vehicle struck by the suspect’s car was pronounced dead at the scene. She is believed to have been 46 years old.
Three other individuals were injured in the crash, though their ages and genders were not immediately available.
The driver of the pursued vehicle was taken into custody, according to police.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further details have not yet been released.
