LOS ANGELES, CA – A 14-year-old boy was hospitalized after being stabbed during a carnival in Anaheim on Sunday night, prompting an investigation by local authorities into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the Anaheim Police Department, officers were called to a parking lot in the 2000 block of South Anaheim Boulevard near Cerritos Street around 9 p.m. following reports of a stabbing. The location had been serving as the site of a temporary carnival event.
When first responders arrived, they found the teen suffering from stab wounds. He was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening. He remains in stable condition, police said.
Details regarding what led up to the stabbing remain under investigation. Authorities have not released any information on possible suspects, nor have they disclosed whether the attack may have stemmed from a dispute or was a random act of violence.
The carnival, which had attracted large crowds over the weekend, was temporarily disrupted as police secured the scene and began their investigation. Witnesses were interviewed at the site, and officers canvassed the area for surveillance footage or other leads.
Officials have not confirmed whether the teen knew the person who attacked him. No arrests have been made, and the identity of the victim has not been released due to his age.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Anaheim Police Department. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous may also reach out to Orange County Crime Stoppers.
