LOS ANGELES, CA – Authorities in Santa Monica are investigating a disturbing confrontation caught on livestream after a man allegedly harassed and threatened a group of popular Twitch streamers on the Santa Monica Pier during a broadcast over the weekend.
The incident occurred Sunday, March 2, while Twitch personalities Valkyrae, Cinna, and Emiru were livestreaming a visit to the pier and Pacific Park as part of an ongoing broadcast. According to footage and statements made by the streamers, the encounter escalated quickly after the group exited a Ferris wheel ride.
A man, seen crouching near the boardwalk, stopped the group and asked to sing a song to them in exchange for one of their phone numbers. When the women declined and tried to walk away, one of them, Emiru, referred to the man as a “stalker,” prompting an immediate change in his demeanor.
Video from the stream captures the man becoming aggressive, following the women as they attempted to leave the park. Off-camera shouting can be heard, followed by the man allegedly lunging toward them and yelling, “I’ll f—ing kill you right now.” Security personnel intervened as the women fled, and the stream abruptly ended.
The Santa Monica Police Department confirmed it is investigating the incident and reviewing footage to identify the suspect. Officers responded to the scene, but the man had left by the time they arrived. No injuries were reported.
The following day, Valkyrae and Cinna addressed the incident on a separate livestream, calling the encounter “genuinely terrifying.” They revealed that the man had approached them earlier in the day in different clothing, which initially made them unaware it was the same individual when he returned later.
“We are very much in shock, and that clip does not do it justice for how scary it was,” Cinna said. The women added that their cameraman and an employee traveling with them helped protect the group during the confrontation.
Valkyrae noted that Emiru appeared ready to physically defend the group. “Emily was prepared to fight him, even though he was pulling things out of his pockets,” she said.
They also described erratic behavior from the man off camera, including punching garbage cans and displaying sudden mood swings—being friendly one moment and hostile the next.
After the stream ended, the women ran into a nearby store, where employees pulled them into a backroom for safety while they waited for police to arrive. Authorities have not released a description of the suspect or confirmed whether additional video from security cameras in the area is being reviewed.
The streamers—each of whom has millions of followers—are among the most prominent female creators on Twitch, a platform known for livestreamed content including gaming, entertainment, and real-time interactions.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Santa Monica Police Department.
