LOS ANGELES, CA – A Monterey Park man is in custody following a human trafficking investigation that led Irvine police to a suspected brothel, where four women were discovered and offered support services, authorities said this week.
The operation took place on February 26, when the Irvine Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, in coordination with the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force (OCHTTF), executed a search warrant at a location near Yale Avenue and Walnut Avenue. The address had been under surveillance as part of an ongoing effort to identify and dismantle human trafficking operations in the region.
During the search, detectives located evidence consistent with a commercial sex operation, including items they say were indicative of a functioning brothel. Four adult women were found at the scene and were identified as potential victims of human trafficking. Police said the women were not detained but were instead offered services and support by task force personnel.
Fusong Lun, 44, was arrested on suspicion of pimping, pandering, and possession of a controlled substance. Authorities believe Lun was operating the brothel and facilitating commercial sex acts at the location. He is currently being held pending further investigation.
The identities of the four women were not disclosed, and authorities have not said whether additional suspects may be linked to the operation. Police also did not specify the nature of the controlled substance allegedly found at the scene.
The investigation forms part of a broader anti-trafficking initiative across Orange County. The OCHTTF—comprised of local, state, and federal agencies—focuses on locating trafficking victims, prosecuting exploiters, and offering recovery resources for those involved in the sex trade, often under coercion or manipulation.
Officials said the brothel’s location, in a seemingly quiet residential or commercial area of Irvine, is not uncommon. Traffickers frequently operate in plain sight to avoid detection, often rotating victims between cities or properties.
Authorities are urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or indicators of trafficking in their communities. Tips can be made anonymously through local law enforcement or national anti-trafficking hotlines.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police say more arrests may follow depending on the outcome of continued inquiries.
