LOS ANGELES, CA – Authorities have released a surveillance image of a suspect accused of attacking an 84-year-old man inside a Santa Clarita bar, leaving the victim hospitalized with serious injuries. The incident occurred last week at Doc’s Inn, a neighborhood bar on Lyons Avenue.
According to investigators, the assault took place shortly after 1 a.m. when a group of four younger individuals entered the bar. Security footage captured inside the venue shows one of the individuals, believed to be in his 20s, punching the elderly man without apparent provocation. The victim, a known regular at the bar, was reportedly enjoying a glass of wine and music from the jukebox at the time.
The punch caused the man to fall and sustain a fractured skull and a brain bleed. He was hospitalized following the attack but has since been released, authorities said. His name has not been publicly disclosed.
A bartender familiar with the victim described him as a quiet and friendly presence at the bar, often visiting alone. “He just liked to come in, relax with a glass of wine, and listen to music,” the bartender said.
Following the assault, damage to the bar was also reported. One of the windows appeared to have been smashed, though it remains unclear whether the vandalism was connected to the group responsible for the assault.
Investigators are still working to identify the individuals involved. The motive behind the attack has not been determined.
Law enforcement is urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues. The newly released photo of the suspect is expected to assist in identifying and locating the individual responsible.
