LOS ANGELES, CA – A Ventura County chiropractor has been sentenced to six years in state prison after a jury convicted him of sexually battering multiple female patients who had gone to him for chiropractic treatment, prosecutors said.

Fernando Juarez Gomez Jr., 45, of Oxnard, was sentenced on Aug. 14 after being convicted of five felony counts of sexual battery involving four women. He also pleaded guilty to one count of battery involving a fifth victim, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.

Gomez owned and operated the now-closed Limitless Functional Therapy in Ventura.

Prosecutors said the crimes occurred between 2022 and 2024 while the women were receiving chiropractic treatment from Gomez.

The investigation began after two female patients reported that Gomez had sexually battered them during appointments.

According to prosecutors, the women said Gomez touched intimate areas of their bodies that were unrelated to legitimate chiropractic treatment.

The allegations eventually led detectives with the Ventura Police Department Major Crimes Unit to obtain an arrest warrant.

On March 21, 2024, officers arrested Gomez at his chiropractic office in Ventura. The original police investigation stemmed from two separate reports made by patients who said they were sexually battered while seeking chiropractic care from him.

The business was located at 4562 Westinghouse Street, Unit D, according to the police department’s original arrest announcement.

After Gomez was taken into custody, investigators said additional women came forward with similar allegations.

By the time the criminal case reached trial, prosecutors were presenting evidence involving several separate patients.

On June 24, 2026, a jury found Gomez guilty of five felony counts of sexual battery involving four different female victims.

The court also found true an aggravating factor that Gomez had taken advantage of a position of trust while committing the offenses.

That finding was particularly significant because the women had gone to Gomez in his professional capacity seeking medical treatment, placing him in a position where patients were expected to trust his explanations about examinations and physical contact.

Gomez separately pleaded guilty to one count of battery involving a fifth victim.

In total, the criminal case involved five women.

Information reviewed by Street People indicates the prosecution focused heavily on the distinction between legitimate chiropractic treatment and the contact the victims said occurred during their appointments.

Prosecutors said the inappropriate touching involved areas of the women’s bodies that were unrelated to treatment.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Twyla Atmore, a member of the District Attorney’s Office Sexual Assault Unit, prosecuted the case.

“The defendant told these young women that his methods would eliminate their pain and help them achieve their athletic goals,” Atmore said.

“Instead, he touched the most intimate parts of their bodies for his own sexual gratification under the guise of therapeutic treatment,” she added.

Atmore said the jury’s verdict and the prison sentence reflected the seriousness of Gomez’s conduct.

“The jury’s verdict and today’s sentence send a clear message that his behavior was unacceptable,” she said.

The case began with only two reported victims, making the later participation of additional women an important part of the investigation.

Ventura police said at the time of Gomez’s arrest that detectives were continuing to investigate and were seeking information about any other possible crimes connected to him.

Prosecutors later confirmed that more victims came forward after the arrest.

The progression of the case ultimately resulted in convictions involving four women and a separate guilty plea involving a fifth.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victims.

The District Attorney’s Office also did not provide additional details about their ages, occupations or the specific treatment they had sought from Gomez beyond saying they were patients receiving chiropractic care.

Gomez’s former business has since closed.

The official sentencing announcement identified him as the owner of Limitless Functional Therapy and confirmed that the facility is no longer operating.

The sentencing brings the primary criminal case to a close more than two years after Gomez was arrested.

He will now serve six years in California state prison.

The convictions were entered under California Penal Code Section 243.4(c), according to the District Attorney’s Office.

The court’s finding that Gomez abused a position of trust was also formally recognized as an aggravating circumstance in the case.

For prosecutors, that element went directly to the nature of the relationship between Gomez and the women who sought treatment from him.

Patients receiving chiropractic care can reasonably expect physical contact as part of an examination or treatment, which can make the boundaries between appropriate and inappropriate contact especially important.

The prosecution argued that Gomez exploited that professional relationship and used the appearance of therapeutic treatment to engage in conduct that served no legitimate medical purpose.

The jury accepted the prosecution’s case on five felony counts.

Gomez’s additional guilty plea meant a fifth woman’s allegation was also resolved as part of the criminal proceeding.

No further sentencing proceedings were announced in the official release.

The case was prosecuted by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office Sexual Assault Unit following the original investigation by Ventura police.

Gomez is now serving a six-year state prison sentence.
