LOS ANGELES, CA – A man was arrested in connection with a shooting outside a restaurant Los Angeles after allegedly firing multiple rounds toward patrons following a dispute, authorities said Friday.
The incident occurred just before 12:30 a.m. on Saturday in the 800 block of East Valley Boulevard in Colton, according to the Colton Police Department. Officers responded after receiving reports of gunfire and determined that a disturbance had taken place at the restaurant moments earlier.
Authorities said that after the dispute, the suspect drove away but returned shortly after, firing several shots in the direction of customers before leaving the scene. No injuries were reported.
Following an investigation, police identified 34-year-old Roberto GarciaVieyra as the suspected gunman. He was taken into custody without incident on Thursday, and investigators recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
The nature of the dispute that led to the gunfire has not been disclosed. Police have not said whether GarciaVieyra knew any of the restaurant patrons or if the shooting appeared to be targeted or random.
GarciaVieyra was booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of attempted homicide. Authorities have not released details on his bail or upcoming court appearances.
