LOS ANGELES, CA – Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that left a woman dead and a man injured in South Los Angeles late Monday night.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of gunfire around 9:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of West 87th Street, near the intersection of Vermont and Manchester avenues. Upon arrival, officers found a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound. She was transported by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A man, who had been shot in the foot, was also found at the scene and was receiving medical treatment, officials said. His condition was not immediately disclosed.
Investigators said the suspect was last seen behind the location of the shooting. Authorities believe the individual either fled on foot or ran from the scene, though no further details were available.
The identities of the victims have not been released, and officials have not provided a description of the suspect. The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear, and authorities have not indicated whether the attack was targeted or random.
