LOS ANGELES, CA – Actor Keegan Allen, 37, was struck in the face with a handgun and robbed of his watch by two men, one armed with a gun and the other with a knife, Thursday night in West Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies from the West Hollywood Station responded to a robbery call in the 8400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard at about 9:05 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, the department said. Allen, known for his role in the television series “Pretty Little Liars,” said the robbery happened outside the Laurel Supply market at 8445 Santa Monica Boulevard.
As of Friday, Oct. 9, no arrests had been reported. The sheriff’s station said detailed descriptions of the suspects were not available.
Two men approached the victim
The sheriff’s station said the victim told deputies that two men dressed in black approached him. One of them pointed a silver handgun at him, and the other pointed a knife.
The men demanded his watch and bracelet, according to the department. The victim was struck in the face with the handgun, and the suspects took his watch and fled in a vehicle that has not been identified.
According to initial reports, the attack happened in the market’s parking lot, near Santa Monica Boulevard and Olive Drive, while Allen was loading groceries into his truck.
Allen treated at the scene
Allen had a laceration on his forehead. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel evaluated him at the scene, and he was not taken to a hospital from there.
Allen later wrote on Instagram that he had a concussion and was at a hospital. The sheriff’s station has not released further information about his condition.
Allen’s account on social media
In his own post, Allen described being “robbed at gunpoint and knifepoint by two young men that threatened to kill me over my watch.” He did not say how many times he was struck.
He also wrote that “West Hollywood is not safe anymore.” His post tagged Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Gov. Gavin Newsom. In it, he wrote that he hoped license-plate-reader cameras could help find the suspects, and he criticized the two officials over the use of those cameras.
Those statements are Allen’s own account and views. The sheriff’s station’s account is limited to what the victim told deputies and what they found at the scene.
