LOS ANGELES, CA – Four men were arrested on suspicion of robbing two men at gunpoint early Monday in West Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station responded to Poinsettia Place and Santa Monica Boulevard at about 1:40 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, the department said. No injuries were reported.
The arrests came as the Sheriff’s Department increases patrols throughout the city following a series of recent violent robberies.
Four masked men approached two victims
According to the Sheriff’s Department, four masked men approached two adult male victims as the victims were entering their vehicle. One of the suspects pointed a firearm at the victims and demanded their belongings.
The suspects then left with the property and fled north on Poinsettia Place, the department said.
The location is at the intersection of Poinsettia Place and Santa Monica Boulevard, a major commercial corridor in West Hollywood. The department did not say what the victims were doing before they reached their vehicle.
Vehicle stopped by LAPD officers
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division later stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The officers were aware of the West Hollywood robbery, and they detained all four men inside the vehicle.
West Hollywood deputies were notified and took custody of the four men. The Sheriff’s Department said the victims positively identified the suspects.
Imitation firearm and stolen property recovered
An imitation firearm and the victims’ property were recovered, according to the department. The department did not describe the items that were taken.
The four men were booked at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station on suspicion of robbery, under California Penal Code Section 211. An arrest is not a conviction, and the allegations remain subject to the criminal court process.
Arrests follow Oct. 8 robbery on Santa Monica Boulevard
The arrests came four days after another armed robbery in the city. At about 9:05 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, actor Keegan Allen was robbed of his watch in the 8400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Two men dressed in black were involved, and the department said the victim was struck in the face with a handgun and the suspects fled with his watch.
The Sheriff’s Department’s Major Crimes Bureau is investigating an armed robbery in West Hollywood. The department has not connected the Oct. 12 arrests to the Oct. 8 case.
Capt. Calvin Mah of the Sheriff’s Department said the department was setting up a meeting with the victim. “We are setting up an appointment to meet with the victim so we can go over the incident,” Mah said. He called the robbery shocking to the community and said the department is increasing patrols to keep the community safe.
Sheriff’s Department adds patrols
Capt. Fanny Lapkin of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station said she was putting additional deputies on patrol, starting Saturday, Oct. 10, in the Rainbow District and throughout West Hollywood. She cited recent deadly-weapon assaults and robberies, including the attack on Allen.
The station said it is increasing the number of deputies on patrol to strengthen its visibility and help prevent further incidents. It also said it is using available technology platforms and working with the Major Crimes Bureau to identify those responsible. The deputies are working overtime.
City says public safety is its top priority
The City of West Hollywood said in a public safety statement that public safety remains its top priority and that Sheriff’s deputies and the city’s security ambassadors are conducting additional patrols.
In a statement reported Oct. 9, the city called news of the violent robbery deeply upsetting and unsettling and said community concerns are being heard. It said the Sheriff’s Department was investigating.

The West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station reported that from January through August 2026, Part I crimes in the city fell nearly 10% and robberies fell about 21%, to 49 cases from 62 in the same period of 2025. Those figures cover the period before the recent incidents.
The city also publishes a year-to-date crime dataset on its open data portal.
