LOS ANGELES, CA – Two women were critically injured in a shooting in Canoga Park Sunday morning, and one person was detained as Los Angeles police worked to determine what led to the gunfire.
Officers responded at approximately 7:49 a.m. to the 21900 block of Roscoe Boulevard after receiving a call from someone reporting that they had been shot, according to information released by the Los Angeles Police Department.
The Los Angeles Police Department initially reported that officers had located one male gunshot victim, but that information was later corrected.
Police subsequently confirmed that there were two victims and both were women.
Both were listed in critical condition.
Emergency crews from the Los Angeles Fire Department also responded to the area for reports of a shooting near a car wash and transported both patients to a local hospital.
Authorities have not released the women’s names, ages or additional information about their injuries.
Police also have not said whether the two victims knew each other or what they were doing immediately before the shooting.
One person was detained during the investigation.
LAPD has not publicly identified that individual or said whether the person is considered a suspect, witness or another person investigators want to question.

Police have not yet announced which detective unit will lead the Canoga Park shooting investigation.
If investigators confirm that the case involves domestic violence, the inquiry could also involve LAPD personnel assigned to domestic violence-related investigations and victim services.
The department maintains domestic violence resources for victims and families, including information about emergency assistance, reporting and protective services.
Those resources are general and do not establish that Sunday’s shooting was domestic violence-related.
At this stage, that possibility remains only part of the preliminary investigation.
