LOS ANGELES, CA – Residents in Northridge woke up on Christmas morning to find their vehicles vandalized, with shattered windows and gang-related graffiti scrawled across them, authorities said.
Several cars parked near Corbin Avenue and Prairie Street were targeted by vandals between 2:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. on December 25, according to local residents.
Photos from the scene showed multiple vehicles defaced with spray-painted messages, including references to “MS-13,” a notorious street gang. In addition to the graffiti, several vehicles sustained broken windows.
“It kind of killed Christmas morning,” said one resident, who requested anonymity. “It was dark, and we woke up to see the damage.”
Residents estimate that half a dozen vehicles were affected, leaving owners scrambling to assess repair costs on a holiday when most businesses were closed.
“We tried to call businesses to see if we can get the car fixed or what it would cost, but nothing was open,” another resident said.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed that it received multiple calls about the vandalism. However, due to the incidents occurring overnight, officers advised residents to file police reports online.
As of Thursday, December 26, authorities said no arrests had been made, and investigators were still working to identify potential suspects.
The LAPD is examining surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses in hopes of finding leads.
Officials urged anyone with information to contact the LAPD Devonshire Division at 818-832-0633. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or online at lacrimestoppers.org.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing, and further updates are expected as new details emerge.
